Coach Biehl recommends that each player should take a multivitamin once a day. Calcium and vitamin D are extremely important for proper bone metabolism. To make a long story short, Dr. Biehl believes that many people in our climate do not have enough active Vit D (Vit D3). This is due to the lack of direct sunlight that we receive. He feels that many young athletes develop stress fractures, shin splints, and various other musculoskeletal pain due to the deficiency of active Vit D3. Recently, companies are now making calcium with active Vit D3. This should be taken in addition to a multivitamin.
